Big Idea: Between the first advent and the second advent of Jesus Christ, believers are to be building up the kingdom of God and therefore both awaiting and hastening the coming day of the Lord.
Application: Waiting and working bring tension, in order to wait and work well, we must be intentional with every moment of our lives, both small and big. There are two things we can focus on today as we wait for Christ’s return.
First, we make space to be with God so that our lives can reflect Him.
Second, we live out God’s patience and love in small, concrete ways. Peter says we can “hasten” the coming of the Lord, and one of the simplest ways we do that is by letting God’s love flow through us to others.
